What examples of figurative language and sound effects did you find in the book?

While reading the first chapter I found these examples of figurative language:

Personification: "The schoolbus wheezed." (PG 3)
Simile: "Like a dream follows a nightmare.(PG 9)

Simile: "The clay streaks the word like dried blood" (10)

Onomatopoeia: "The engine clanks..." (3)

Two more examples of Figurative Language I have found include:

Hyperbole: “I wash my face in the sink until there is nothing left of it, no eyes, no nose, no mouth. A slick nothing.” (45)

Onomatopoeia: “…wince when the glass shatters on the floor…” (60)

Simile: "Art without emotion is like chocolate cake without sugar. It makes you gag."(112)

Personification: "They are chewing me alive like an infestation..."

Examples of figurative language for the second and third chapters are:

Hyperbole: "There is a beast in my gut, I can hear it scraping away at my ribs." (PG 51)

Simile: "Like a rope tying her to the stake." (PG 59)

Simlie: "The peanut butter molds to the roof of my mouth like a retainer." (PG 89)

Hyperbole: "He sits on the stool, a blue broken cricket husk." (PG 91)

Simile: "Her skin is a flat gray color, like underwear washed so many times it's about fo fall apart." (73)

For the last 2 segments of the book, I have found thes examples of figurative language:

Simile: "I must look like a dog chasing it's tail." (PG 173)

Simile: "I feel like I can fly." (PG 186)

Personification: " I chomp my sandwich and it barfs mustard on my shirt." (PG 128)

Simile: "Snow covers the ground, it hushes as still as my heart." (PG 130)
