I have mixed feelings about this book. I really like it and can relate to it. But at the same time, i feel like it could possibly be just another melodramatic teen drama. Yet, I like to believe that this has something different. But I'm not exactly sure what is sticking out to me yet.
For the last 2 segments, I had a lot of different thoughts about the end of Speak. When you find out about what happened at the party, I was shocked to see that she was drinking. I did not take Melinda as a drinking type at all. I also don't think that Rachel should have reacted the way she did. I think she should have listened to Melinda's side of the story. I was also shocked and sort of disgusted to read about the rape. The way Laurie wrote it was very sinister. I was very happy for Melinda when she found the courage within herself to finally tell someone about the rape, even though they didn't react as plan. I also felt good that she finally had the courage to speak.
